Šardice feast
Šardice church is consecrated to St. Michael Archangel, this is
why annual feast takes place on this day – i.e. always on Sunday after 29th
September.
The feast merriment always starts on Friday with traditional
hand-construction of May Pole (mája) and with dance on Saturday.
On Sunday, after the noon local youths in costumes and other
people meet at the May Pole. Everyone then sets out through the village in a
parade with music for the elderlies. Ceremony full of music and dance takes
place at their houses. The feast then continues in local hall where the party
continues with feast entertainment. Solo of the elderly, costumed solo and
non-resident solo is sound during the feast. They demonstrate
their coming with knocking the door. On Monday, the feast continues with dance
with masques. For this reason Šardice youths get dressed in costumes of the
opposite sex. The other participants show various short scenes about life in the
village during the masquerade. Either the participants or spectators are
enjoying the amusement.
